Falcon Account: Changing your password on a university owned computer while off campus

If you have a campus-issued computer, use it when changing your password.
Make sure your computer is connected to the VPN before proceeding.

Do not use the password self-service portal if you have a campus issued computer. It will result in your passwords being out of sync and will make it difficult for you to access campus resources.

Mac OS

  1. If you have a campus-issued computer, use it
  2. Make sure your computer is connected to the VPN
  3. Open System Preferences
  4. Select Users & Groups
  5. Select Change Password

Windows

  1. If you have a campus-issued computer, use it
  2. Make sure your computer is connected to the VPN
  3. Press <Ctrl><Alt><Delete>
  4. Select Change Password

Rebooting your computer causes apps to ask for new password right away. If you don't reboot, logging in with your new password happens randomly over several days since some applications take a little longer to pick up the fact that your password changed.
