If your password expired more than a year ago, call Technology Services for help in resetting your password.
To reset a forgotten password, you will need to have properly registered responses to challenge questions for the account on this site previously (regardless of whether you choose to use a different option to reset).
- On the Password Self-Service site, select Forgotten Password
- Enter your username and Search
- If you've set up your account, you will be presented the option for Secret Questions and Answers and optionally SMS/Email Verification if information is available for that option.
- Continue using instructions below for the option you select.
Reset using challenge questions
You can use this option only if you have successfully registered responses to challenge questions in Password Self-Service in the past (which typically happens when activating/registering an account). You are prompted with two of your security challenge questions. If you cannot recall the answer to one, you may reload the page to randomly select two of your questions again. The answers are not case-sensitive but if you've forgotten responses, you will either need to use one of the options below or contact DoTS for assistance. The steps:
- At the option screen, select Secret Questions and Answers.
- Answer the questions when prompted.
- Choose and enter a new password.
- You may be prompted to verify your account profile information including an emergency alert phone number and other methods for resetting your password as well as the option to receive expiration reminders. Select Continue to confirm your responses.
- On the final screen, there is a message that your password has been changed.
Reset using text/SMS message/alternate email
You can use this option only if you're resetting a Falcon Account or student employee account and you've provided an alternate email address, a SMS number, or both in your Password Self-Service profile for password reset codes. This option sends an SMS message to the destination you specify with a time-restricted token code. The steps:
- At the option screen, select SMS/Email Verification
- Select the option you wish to use for reset. Make sure you have access to the phone number or email address selected as not all options will make sense.
- If you selected SMS, the token code will be sent from 715-245-2517 to the phone number you've selected. If you selected email verification, the code will be sent from dots@uwrf.edu to the email address you selected. Enter the reset code from the message in the box provided. The code must be entered within one hour of being issued and is case sensitive.
- Choose and enter a new password.
- You may be prompted to verify your account profile information including an emergency alert phone number and other methods for resetting your password as well as the option to receive expiration reminders. Select Continue to confirm.
- On the final screen, there is a message that your password has been changed.
Are these options not available to you because you did not set them up?
