Falcon Account: When is access given or removed?

When Access is Granted to Resources

Students (including Applicants)

People who have applied to UW-River Falls have a Falcon Account created when their application is initially processed, usually within a few days of applying. An applicant's Falcon Account is restricted to eSIS access only.

Once an applicant is admitted, additional resources are granted including assignment of an email address, computer lab login access and access to Canvas. Access to individual Canvas courses happens when the instructor makes the course available. Access to library databases and online journals is restricted until the first day of classes and removed once a student is no longer taking courses and not registered for future courses.

Employees

Employees have a Falcon Account created within a day of the Human Resources department entering their contract. Access to some UW System resources such as Canvas and payroll may take a day longer.

Provisional Accounts

Some individuals require access to a Falcon Account but are not students or employees of UW-River Falls. This includes but is not limited to visiting scholars, graduate student interns and UWRF Foundation employees. These accounts are created and removed based on approval from a director at UW-River Falls.

When Access Is Removed

How long does one have access to various technology resources via their Falcon Account after leaving UWRF?

Applicants & Admitted Students Who Have Not Enrolled

Applicants and admitted students lose access after the last day of the term for which they applied or were admitted.

Students*

Students who graduate 1 year after the last term enrolled for credits
Students not enrolled but not officially withdrawn 1 year after the last term enrolled for credits
Graduate students

2 years after the last term enrolled for credits or 2 years after the term graduated. However, due to licensing costs, the library's online database/journal access is discontinued once a student is no longer listed as "active."

* Former students with a balance due on their bill after the periods listed above will retain access restricted to eSIS until the balance is paid off.

Students who withdraw lose access to most resources within 24 hours of their withdrawal being processed.

Employees

Faculty and Academic Staff (includes Adjunct) 120 days from contract end date (or earlier as arranged by supervisor)
