University Computer: My external monitors are not displaying

Issue: After coming back from a conference room where I used my laptop with the conference room monitors, I find that my regular external monitors are no longer working.

Environment: Laptop switching between external monitors, including those in conference rooms across campus. Displays are black or "not working".

Resolution:

• Macs
  • Sleep/wake the computer to trigger a detect which should fix the problem. For more information, see: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201177#1
• Windows
  • Press the Windows key and hold. While holding, press the "P" key until you get to your preferred "project" setting. Once selected, release the Windows key.
  • You can also look at the power setting in the control panel to change what happens when the lid of the laptop closes.
