eduroam: MacOS

Preferred Method

  1. Connect to UWRF-Welcome. This network is only used to download the eduroam installer. After setup, disable Auto-Join or forget UWRF-Welcome.
  2. Open https://cat.eduroam.org.
  3. Select Click here to download your eduroam installer.
  4. Search for “River” and select University of Wisconsin River Falls.
  5. If prompted, select eduroam for macOS.
  6. Open the downloaded installer. If prompted by your browser, select Keep, then Open.
  7. If macOS directs you to Settings:
    1. Open System Settings.
    2. Go to General > Device Management (or search for "Profiles").
    3. Select the eduroam profile and click Install.
  8. When prompted, enter:
    1. Username: Your full UWRF email address
    2. Password: Your UWRF password
  9. Select Install and confirm any additional prompts. You may be asked for your Mac's administrator password.
  10. After installation, close the profile window.
  11. Select the Wi-Fi menu in the menu bar and connect to eduroam.
  12. If prompted again, re-enter your UWRF email address and password.
  13. Verify you are connected to eduroam.
  14. Disable Auto-Join for UWRF-Welcome:
    1. Open System Settings > Wi-Fi.
    2. Select Known Networks.
    3. Find UWRF-Welcome and either:
      1. Turn off Auto-Join, or
      2. Select Forget This Network.

Manual Method

  1. Select the Wifi Icon located on the top menu bar
  2. Select eduroam
  3. Enter your username (Use your UWRF email for a username if not connecting with a guest account)
  4. Enter your password 
  5. Select Join

 

If you have a guest account for wireless access, use the manual method in order to connect to eduroam. 
If you are having issues connecting and had previously connected at a different institution, check your system settings for an installed "profile". Follow the instructions here to View and installed Profile. If an eduroam profile exists, select it and remove it. Once this is done, move on to the Preferred Method (below) for connecting your device.
