As an instructor, you can control which links appear in Course Navigation. Canvas includes a set of default Course Navigation links that cannot be renamed. Depending on your course configuration, other links may be available and may be customizable. The UW instance of Canvas may have fixed some of these but some are flexible.
See the Canvas Guide: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-12933-415257079
Links you can disable that are enabled by default:
- Syllabus - If you want to load your own syllabus instead of using the tool.
- Collaborations - Canvas leverages collaborative technology to allow multiple users to work together on the same document at the same time. Collaborative documents are saved in real-time meaning a change made by any of its users will be immediately visible to everyone. https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10722-67952720327
- Outcomes - Outcomes can be included in assignment rubrics as an easy way to assess mastery of learning objectives. When you create a learning outcome, you should also define a criterion that can be used when building assignment rubrics. Define as many rubric columns as you need and specify a point threshold that will be used to define mastery of this outcome.
Links you can enable:
Enable an LTI in the Course Navigation
- Select the course you wish to modify
- Select Settings
- Select Navigation (the 3rd tab )
- Select the option icon (3 dots) to the right of the option
- Choose Enable
- Choose Save
The navigation link should appear in the course. If it does not, the item is not available through UW at this time.
