Mac Refresh: Update Coming This Fall
Throughout the Fall semester, DoTS will update university-owned Macs to the latest standard configuration. This update will improve security, streamline account management, and simplify common processes such as password changes.
The result will be a more secure and consistent experience for all Mac users.
What will DoTS do?
DoTS will:
- Work with you to schedule a time for you to drop off your computer (we will need it for approximately 24 hours)
- Provide a loaner computer while your device is being updated
- Back up your device files
- Re-image your computer with the latest operating system and configuration
- Restore your device files
- Return your computer and answer any questions you may have
What we need from you
When you receive the scheduling email from DoTS, please complete the form with:
- A preferred date and time for your update, keeping in mind that we need the computer for 24 hours
- Any specialty software you need reinstalled (standard applications such as Microsoft Office will be installed automatically)
On your scheduled date, you'll either drop off your computer at the Service Center or leave it in a location where DoTS staff can access it. We will notify you once the process is complete.
