Mac Configuration Update Coming This Fall

Throughout the Fall semester, DoTS will update all university-owned Macs to the latest standard configuration. This update will improve security, streamline account management, and simplify processes such as password changes.

The result will be a more secure and consistent experience for all Mac users.

What will DoTS do?

DoTS will:

• After you provide times, schedule a time for you to drop off your computer (we will need it for approximately 24 hours)
• Provide a loaner computer while your device is being updated
• Back up your data and configuration files
• Re-image your computer with the newest operating system and configuration
• Restore your data
• Return your computer and answer any questions you may have

What we need from you

When you receive the scheduling email from DoTS, please reply with:

• A preferred date and time for your update, keeping in mind that we will need your computer for 24 hours
• Any specialty software you need reinstalled (standard applications such as Microsoft Office will be installed automatically)

On your scheduled date, please either drop off your computer at the Service Center or leave it in a location where DoTS staff can access it. We will notify you once the process is complete.
