Equipment/Accessories Purchase

If you need a new office phone or one to be reprogrammed for a new employee, request our Cisco IP Phone Deployment/Activation offering.

 

If you need a cell phone, request our Cell Phone Purchase offering.

 

Employees or departments may need to purchase hardware other than laptops that are provided to all employees. This is the place. (DoTS is responsible for the procurement of all technology accessories regardless of funding source.)

What Equipment/Accessories?

Examples

  • Non-standard mice/keyboards, monitors, cables, microphones, webcams, headsets
  • Special-use tablets like iPads or Wacom drawing tablets
  • Special-use workstation computers needed to run specialty equipment
  • Computers associated with research equipment (DoTS does not order the actual lab research equipment)

Who Pays?

  • Departments are responsible for purchasing and replacement costs of the equipment.
  • Place an order by giving us your university department account number and having your budget manager approve the purchase.
  • Do not use your Procard!

Timing

  • There are times of the year where we just don't have the horses to fulfill your request. See our blackout dates.
  • Upon receipt of the completed request, it can take 4-6 weeks for the equipment to arrive and depending on availability, it could be longer.

The Steps

DoTS works with you on your request including looking at...

  • the technical feasibility in our environment
  • additional software included with the purchase
  • support expectations and local subject matter expertise
  • UW System policies including all security and procurement requirements

After purchasing, when items arrive on campus, we contact you to arrange for delivery to your office.
