Web Authoring Training

The Division of Technology Services provides Drupal training for faculty and staff whose departments or offices have given them clearance to become web authors.

  • Training is provided to staff and faculty who will update webpages regularly or create a significant amount of content. Special permission from the University Marketing and Communications office (UCM) must be provided for students to edit Drupal content

  • Prospective trainees must get permission from their supervisor and approval from UCM. UCM will then submit a ticket to DoTS requesting that an invitation to training be sent to the participant.
  • Basic content management system (CMS) training is self-guided and conducted through the use of online tutorials.
  • Training includes using numerous functions of the CMS and familiarity with web accessibility guidelines. It is self-paced and may take 2 hours.
  • Trainees are required to create a practice page to show proof of proficiency. After completing the course and submitting a short questionnaire to DoTS, they will gain access to the web sites they will regularly edit.
