Unable to Complete PDF Forms in Browser

Though a PDF can be opened in a browser window, not all of the features may be available. Most PDF forms cannot be completed and saved while hosted in a web browser (Disregard messages to download a different version of a PDF reader.)

Solution

A PDF should be downloaded to the computer and opened using Adobe Acrobat DC or Adobe Reader. (The latter offers limited features. For example, links may not work.)

Downloading a PDF

  1. Right click on the link
  2. Firefox/Chrome: choose save link as; Microsoft: choose save target as

  1. Choose the destination where you would like the file to be saved
  2. Open Adobe Reader or Acrobat
  3. Choose file and open the downloaded PDF
  4. Complete the PDF form and save

Note: You can download Adobe Reader DC to your campus computer from the Software Center (Windows) or Self Service (macOS).
