Rebuilding your Outlook profile is a basic first troubleshooting step for the application (not the web version). Here is how you do it...
The first step is to quit Outlook. This is very important. If you don't close Outlook, you will receive errors when trying to remove your profile.
Outlook (classic) on Windows
Two main steps: removing your profile and recreating your profile. First, removing...
- Quit Outlook.
- Open the Windows Control Panel
- Open Mail (Microsoft Outlook)
- Select Show Profiles
- Highlight the profile to remove
- Select Remove
- Select OK
- A prompt pop-up appears. Select Yes.
Now that we have removed your old profile, let's create the new one.
- Start Outlook
- Enter "Outlook" into the Profile Name field
- If you get a prompt that that profile name is already in use, select a different name, like "UWRF" or similar (if you get a message that "The profile name you entered already exists" enter another name, for example UWRF2).
- Select OK
- Verify the name and email are correct and select Next
- You may be prompted to enter a username and password
- Enter your email address
- Enter your Falcon Account password
- If prompted, select OK
- From the Congratulations page, select Finish
Shared mailboxes may take some time to re-appear in Outlook. It may take up to a few hours for them to show up in the list of available mailboxes. If you need immediate access to a shared mailbox, please use Outlook Online in the interim.
The send-as feature does not automatically re-enable itself after a profile rebuild. If you need to send as another address, open a new message compose window and select the "Options" tab, and toggle on the "From" field feature:
Once you've enabled the field, you can add your alternative send-as addresses to Outlook, and they will be remembered for future use in the drop-down.
