UWRF provides the full desktop Microsoft Office application suite for a more robust experience while using e-mail and calendar. The supported application is Microsoft's Outlook Client for either Mac or PC. You can access your mailbox, calendar, people, tasks, and notes from within the Outlook client.
These Microsoft 365 Business Professional applications are available: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote, and OneDrive. Windows users can also get Publisher and Access. Other Microsoft Office applications not available under the Office 365 for Education license may need to be purchased separately.
If you use
Office Online applications, you have access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, and more right within your web browser.
Using MS Applications
Students, faculty, staff and emeriti/honored retirees can download and install full Office Suite applications on their personal computers at no additional cost. Alumni and student employee accounts are not eligible. Up to 5 installs are permitted. The software must "phone home" every 90 days to remain active. You are required to log into Office 365 in order for Microsoft to determine if you are still eligible to use the software. If the software cannot validate an active relationship with UW-River Falls, it will become inactive.
Installing MS Applications from the Office 365 Web Interface
To download Office 365, start by logging into your UWRF e-mail.
When installing the software (or on first run registration for Macintosh users), select the option to connect to an existing Office 365 subscription using your UWRF address and sign in with an "Organizational Account" when prompted.
If you already have a copy of Office installed on your computer, we recommend removing any older versions before installing the new version.
