Cisco IP Phone: Why doesn't my phone ring?

Summary

Solutions to get your ring back.

Body

Issue: My phone isn't ringing and I should be getting calls.

Environment: Cisco IP Phone

Resolution:

Check out these possible reasons...

  • The "Do not disturb" function is enabled, indicated by a warning banner across the top of the phone (in red if a color display or in gray if not a color display)
    • Press the ".." button at the bottom of the display
    • Press the "Do not disturb" button at the bottom of the display to turn it off.
  • Your ringer volume is turned down all the way
    • With the handset in the cradle, increase the ring volume by pressing the "+" button side of the long toggle bar near the lower left side of your phone
  • Your phone is forwarded
    • Press the "Forward off" button at the bottom of the display
    • If you don't have a "Forward off" button at the bottom of the display but instead have a "Forward all" button, your phone is not forwarded
  • You are logged out of a hunt group
