Streaming Video Services

The Chalmer Davee Library subscribes to multiple streaming video services including Films on Demand and Kanopy.

Kanopy

For access to a listing of licensed streaming video, please check the Databases A-Z page of the Library’s website.

All streaming content available via the library is licensed for academic use and can be used freely in the classroom and digital learning environments. Films on Demand is available on all UW campuses but links vary by campus. Films on Demand titles are available through searches on Search at UW on the library homepage. Please email refdesk@uwrf.edu with any questions about the use of Films on Demand including setting up links. This guide for instructors explains how to set up Kanopy in Canvas course content.

The Division of Technology Services (DoTS) is not able to transfer video content to other formats due to copyright policy. Most commercial films have limited licensing availability for academic environments. Most commercial platforms such as Hulu, Netflix, iTunes/Apple, Amazon, etc. do not provide institutional licensing for university use. Therefore, UWRF is not able to grant all purchasing requests.

Exception: Limited amounts of Netflix-produced content licensed for Academic Use.
