Network: How to Disable the Wireless on a Personal Printer

Some printers offer wireless services that interfere with the campus wireless network - even when the printer is powered off. Here is how to turn this service off to ensure wireless functioning in your area for yourself and community members.

For most HP Printer models

  1. Navigate to Setup > Network > Wireless Radio (on some models, this is towards the bottom of the scrollable menu)
  2. Turn the Wireless Radio OFF.

For HP Photosmart models

Some versions may allow you to press the blue "wireless" button on the bottom front of the printer to turn the light off and, therefore, the service off. You may need to hold the button for 5 seconds to turn the light off.

For HP Laserjet models

Press and hold the "wireless" image button on the left-hand button panel for 5 seconds to turn the light off and service off.

For most EPSON models

  1. Press the Setup button
  2. Select Wi-Fi/Network Settings
  3. Select Wi-Fi Setup
  4. Select Wi-Fi Setup Wizard
  5. Select Disable Wi-Fi

For most Canon models

Press and hold the RESUME/CANCEL button then release the button when the POWER lamp flashes 12 times.

Note: When you enable the wireless LAN, press and hold the RESUME/CANCEL button, then release the button when the POWER lamp flashes 10 times.
