Computer Labs

Computer labs are frequently rebuilt and personal work should be stored either on OneDrive or a personal external hard-drive. DoTS is not responsible for files lost during a maintenance or upgrade process.


Introduction

UW-River Falls has many DoTS-supported computer labs throughout campus. The types of computer labs are:

  • General access - open to anyone with a Falcon Account
  • Instructional - scheduled primarily for academic class use
  • Departmental - configured for specific departments or colleges and typically have specialized hardware and/or software installed
  • Virtual - No need to be on campus. Much of the software installed in our physical labs can be accessed remotely using our Virtual Lab.

Benefits

  • Access to general computer applications such as Microsoft Office and Internet resources
  • Access to unique software for specific disciplines that would otherwise be too expensive for individuals to purchase
  • Instructional labs provide an interactive experience for instructors and students
