Cisco IP Phone: Speed Dial

Speed Dial Eligibility

You may set up speed dial for any buttons on the left side of your screen that do not already have a number associated with them. The number of speed dials you can set up depends on how many lines are already configured on your phone. The maximum available for anyone on campus is four speed dial numbers.

Your phone has to be configured for speed dial features by Technology Services. By default this should be setup but ,unfortunately, sometimes that feature is not enabled for a number of reasons. If you find that the speed dials are not allowed on your phone, please submit a request to enable speed dials. Also, if you still have a "team" number on your button 3 we can move that up to button 2 to allow for speed dials to be available under the team line.

Setting up Speed Dial

For security reasons, this portal is not available from a commodity Internet connection. You must be on a university-provided secure network to access this service.
  1. While on a university network connection, go to the Cisco Unified Communications Self Care portal (https://dl-cucm-1.uwrf.edu/ucmuser/)
  2. Log in with your Falcon Account username and password
  3. Navigate to Phone Settings > Speed Dial Numbers
  4. Select Add New Speed Dial
  5. In Number/URI, enter the speed dial phone number. (Do not use dashes. Include 7 and/or 1 prefixes as needed for off campus or long distance numbers.)
  6. In Label (Description), enter in the desired label for that phone number. It will be displayed on your phone next to the associated speed dial button.
  7. In Speed Dial, enter a 1, 2, 3, or 4, to specify the placement of this speed dial on your phone. (1 will be the first eligible button, 2, the second button, etc.)
  8. Save. The speed dial label and function will appear on your phone within seconds.

Repeat as needed to continue adding additional speed dial numbers keeping in mind that only the blank buttons on the left can be assigned a speed dial number. Any numbers entered in excess of that will not display on your phone.

To place a Speed Dial Call

  1. Pick up or your handset, press the headset button or the press the speaker phone button to obtain dial tone
  2. Press the desired speed dial button to place the call
