Project: Construction - Frequently Asked Questions

How do I initiate a request for a new physical space?

Space allocation and assignment is managed by Campus Planning, a unit of Facilities Management.

How do I initiate a request for the remodeling or new construction of a space?

Technology Services is the lead on some projects where technology is a primary need for the construction project.  Examples include changing a room from a traditional non-technology room to an active learning classroom, Falcon Promise projects, classroom modernization, etc.  Projects that are not focused on technology use will be led by Facilities Management with Technology Services supporting the design.

Projects that are not primarily technology related will be led by the Facilities Management department.  Please refer to their website for initiating the project.  Please also request the Project Request service on this website for Technology Services to be involved in your project.  After you have made these two initial requests we will work with Facilities on your behalf to work out the details between us for your benefit.

My proposed project is not on the main university campus.  Will Technology Services still help me?

YES!  Technology Services assists you regardless of where in the world your project will be happening.  We, to the best of our ability, assist you with projects on campus, in the local area, or even internationally.

How soon do you need to know about my project?

Ideally, as soon as the idea is conceived.  The earlier you involve Technology Services the easier we can help to get your idea to happen in your timeline and your budget.  Applying truthful and accurate cost estimates to a project can often have a chilling effect.  However, if we are involved early enough, we might be able to help position your project in a way that funding can be secured from external resources or we can help you balance your needs to fit your budget.  Please also refer to our office move blackout dates; your project will need to be wrapped up in enough time to complete the moves.
