This article applies to the standard 8841 or 8811 phone that is in an office or a classroom.
In short, the network cable goes from the wall jack to your phone to your computer. If your phone or computer is not on the wired network and they should be, make sure to check all connections.
For your Cisco IP phone to function correctly, have cables attached accordingly.
- The network cable from the active network jack on the wall in your office must be plugged in to the back of your phone in the port labeled with the network icon as shown below.
- The network cable plugged in on the back of the phone into the port labeled with the computer icon should be plugged into your computer or docking station that is providing your computer wired network access.
If these cables are not connected correctly, neither your Cisco IP phone or your computer will work.
