eduroam: Macbook unable to connect to eduroam

Summary

Removing ise-pol certs might work.

Body

Issue: My Macbook can't connect to the eduroam network after a password update. I receive repeated prompts to authenticate but these do not allow me to connect to eduroam.

Environment: personally-owned device, Apple, Macbook, wireless network, eduroam

Resolutions:

There are a few possible ways to fix this...

  1. Try standard troubleshooting processes (e.g. rebooting or forgetting the network and re-adding).
  2. Remove the ise-pol certificates from Keychain Access. The steps:
    1. Perform a spotlight search for "Keychain Access"
    2. Select Certificates from the left-side menu
    3. Remove the "ise-pol-01.servers.uwrf.edu" and "ise-pol-02.servers.uwrf.edu" certificates from the list
      • Note: If your issue is with a university computer, contact DoTS because administrator rights are required to perform this step
    4. Reconnect to eduroam
    5. A pop-up appears letting you know that eduroam wants to add new certificates for "ise-pol.servers.uwrf.edu". Double check the certificate, then allow it to properly connect to eduroam.
  3. Remove the saved networks from the device. These are under under | Open Network Preferences... | Wi-Fi | Advanced.
    • You need to unlock the Preference pane before selecting Advanced to remove networks.
  4. Check for configuration profiles with network settings. These are under  | System Preferences | Profiles.
    • If you don't see a Profiles pane in System Preferences on an unmanaged device, no configuration profiles are installed.
