A sandbox course is a "template" or holding area for course information. A sandbox course can be used to import a course prior to eSIS syncing with Canvas, copy a prior term Canvas course for redesign, or to update items and test features. Sandbox courses cannot have student enrollments in them.
To create a sandbox course:
- In the Global Navigation tool bar to the left of the Dashboard in Canvas, select Help
- Choose Create a Sandbox Course
- Enter a Course Name
- Enter a Course Code
- Choose your Department
- Select Create Course

You can copy a current course or sandbox course to another course using the course import tool.
