Canvas (Instructors): Link or Add Video from MyMedia using Rich Content Editor

Rich Text Editor

After importing content to Canvas, you may need to link or add media from Kaltura to the following areas. These are also the steps for adding new media in Canvas from Kaltura. 

• Home
• Pages
• Assignments
• Quizzes

To add a Media file from Kaltura:

1. In Canvas, create or edit the area you want to insert or update media.
2. Place your cursor where you want the media file to appear.
3. From the editor toolbar, select the plug icon.

4. Select the item you want to insert
5. To select from My Media, select My Media, locate the Kaltura item from the list, open the Select menu next to the item, and select Embed.

If you wish, continue to edit the page. Remember to Save or Save and Publish when you are finished.

Kaltura - Video Embed Options

Using the HTML Editor you can add the embed code for the Kaltura Video. To find the embed code:

1. In Canvas, go to Account in the Global Navigation
2. Go to MyMedia
3. Select the media you wish to insert
4. Below the video, select Share
5. The embed code is displayed

5. Copy the embed code.
6. In Canvas, go to the course and open the object you wish to edit:

• Home
• Pages
• Assignments
• Quizzes

7. Choose Edit
8. In the editing screen, select the HTML editor tool
   • The tool is located at the top right of the editing screen below the title
9. Paste the embed code in the open field
10. Choose Save
