Microsoft Office 365: Resolve Sync Error

How to fix sync errors showing up in Outlook.

If you see any of the following sync error messages, you may be able to resolve these on your own.  These errors happen because of the permissions that are set on another person's mailbox.

In the above example, there are three important lines that are highlighted:

  • The first line should include your name.
  • The second line shows the name of the person that has permission issues that are causing your error messages.
  • The third line shows that this error was caused by a permission issue. If you see another error message than the one shown here, contact DoTS.

The person listed in the second line above can follow these steps to fix this problem:

If you are using sub-calendars that you are sharing with others, following these steps will break that

 

  • Open the outlook client, go to your calendar, right click and select Properties and then select Permissions 
  • Select any of the users or groups that have a permission level of Free/Busy time, Subject, Location or Free/Busy time
  • For each of those users or groups, uncheck the Folder Visible option in the Other section

 

Once the other person has finished these updates, your sync errors should stop.
