Also an issue with WebEx and Zoom.
Issue: Newer versions of macOS (10.15 Catalina and higher) no longer automatically give apps permission to record the screen, or use the camera or microphone. You need to enable this on a per app basis. Apps that need it should automatically ask for screen recording permission but if the prompt is missed or not offered, screen sharing won't work. This is a common issue with Teams, WebEx, and Zoom.
Environment: Macs 10.15 or higher.
Resolution: Give the app permission to record the screen.
- Open | System Preferences
- Select Security & Privacy (Second row on the right.)
- Select the Privacy tab
- Scroll down the menu and select Screen Recording
- Check the box of the app you want to share from (If the app isn't in the list or can't be selected, contact DoTS.)
- A dialog box appears asking you to either select Later or Quit Now. Select Later.
The app should now be able to record or share your screen. If can't immediately do so, quit the app and then run it again.
