Summary

Headsets recommended and supported by DoTS.

Body

Background

Using a headset is an excellent way to improve your customer service especially if you type often when on the phone. However, headsets are often requested but rarely used for more than a month. Please take this information into account when considering the purchase of a headset.

Also, soft phones are starting to be used more often. You can use your tablet or computer as your phone. USB headsets are needed for the soft phone so consider if you want to purchase a hardware headset or go with the soft phone option.

Mono or Dual Ear Phone?

This depends on the environment of where the phone is going to be used. If you are taking calls in an open area or in close proximity to another office worker, you may want the dual ear phone option. Some people have a hard time adjusting to dual ear phones when talking on the phone.

The single ear phone is good for when you handle both walk-up customers and also take calls. You do not need to take off the headset to listen to your walk-up customers.

Procurement

  • Request headsets the same way you request other UWRF devices/accessories - through our Equipment/Accessories Purchase service.
  • We are required to use our state contract for headset and webcam purchases. If you are interested in a headset for your Cisco phone, contact DoTS and we can make a recommendation.
